ANCHORAGE (KTUU) Anchorage police said no one was injured after someone fired shots near the 800 block of East Dimond Boulevard Saturday evening, striking a hotel building.

Those who were at the scene of the shooting said what happened hits too close to home.

Witnesses said dozens of people were listening to testimony given by evangelist Rev. Rob Radasti inside the hotel when the shooting disrupted his talk.

Stephen Holmstock who had been recording the meeting said about 8 bullets came flying into the room and several people had close calls, including himself.

"That bullet hit the wall from my, from my head at head level," Holmstock said.

Holmstock's son was also in the room at the time.

"To know these things are so close to you, there's nothing you can do about a situation like that when it's happening, except go to the floor or get out of there as fast as you can," Holmstock said.

Rev. Radasti said what he saw unfolding in front of him was crazy.

"It sounded like a machine gun or something and I just saw glass flying and dry wall crumbling off the walls and people were hiding under the chairs and you know someone says 'is that an earthquake' and someone said 'its gushots, get down' so everyone got down on the floor," Rev. Radasti said.

While police haven't released a suspect description or whether the incident was random or targeted, Holmstock and Radasti agree how the bullets missed nearly 30 people in the room was miraculous.

"The lord protected us in that meeting," Holmstock said.

Who fired the shots and why remains unknown.
