I feel like there was a "Ciara" image before Ciara was even here. The only thing that made her stand out was her southern influence and that's not really strong in her music much anymore.
She came in on a trend and when she tried something else
Promise hit #11 on Billboard Hot 100, prompting The Evolution to debut at #1, beating out Gwen Stefani and Eminem

oof! Artist?!

FAMÈ

The R&B/Hip Hop industry as a whole shifted around 2008. I don't think Ci had a choice.

yummy

Yea, because I vividly remember watching some BET special back in '04/05 and Ci' being packaged as a Janet/Aaliyah hybrid  :dead:

I would say the R&B slow jam (Promise, Body Party) are Ci's own sound, but she never really fleshed out that lane for herself.
flesh owt a bar of got damn soap.

someone could easily say Usher or Chris are just carbon copies of Michael even though they are their own artists
and one could go as far to say that Michael swagger jacked James Brown (and Mike probably wouldn't even have argued with them if they said it).

But artistry is about taking inspiration and making it your own.

Yes Ci gave a bit of Li. But she put that ATL funk on it.
If she was the exact copy of Li tryna give a 2004 "rock the boat" mess owt she would have gotten nowhere  :plzstop: :plzstop: :plzstop:

neat.

now can you tell me what her signature sound is and which artists are inspired by her? none of the ci's seem to know.

BAPHOMET.

:mmyulost: what trend was "Promise" chasing.....

She came in on a trend and when she tried something else, she immediately became a flop. These deluded ass fans :kii:

!!!

not sure how she was gonna flesh out that sound when her record label (now defunct) was forcing her to collaborate with T-Pain in an attempt to swagga jack the Kiss Kiss - Chris Brown sound.

After The Evolution, Jive took control over Ciara's image and sound. It really was all politics from there.

yummy

still tryna figure that out.

She totally re-invented herself. Her whole look and sound was different. The "Goodies" era as a whole was nothing like the direction of "Promise" as a first single choice. It was risky and it worked in her favor. And she wrote it :dead:

yummy

and Fame claimed Ci' has inspired a bunch of new bitches, so I need to someone who released a song after 2012

Ciara is someone that throws shit together and hopes that it sticks
Very monica-esque
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
like this bitch lacks direction in ALL areas. she's EVERYWHERE with that terrble ass music, her dance ability aint up to par and has even declined, and there's nothing signature about her. when u think ciara the only thing u can equate her to is crunk music
and yet her signature songs are Body Party and Promise

 Everybody knows Ci for a bby-makin, slow grind mess owt. And she has writing credits on both.

Does Rih have writing credits on her signature songs? :ATLcameo:
:ATLcameo:
does she? :usuresis:

umm hello
this bitch had Ci written all over her

Ciara wouldn't make this record and brooke valentine definitely didn't wanna be no damn ciara :dead:
If u hear ciara at all its probably because it's CRUNK music and that aint start or stop with her.
