This is kind of a valid question tbh

Posed on Instagram hours ago, the question sparked a debate on the true meaning of self-identification on social media as society still struggles to understand the world view of Rachel Dolezal, the Caucasian woman who believes that she is Black.

This honestly makes alot of sense to me

I honestly think transracialism isn?t as accepted because it?s something new. Before Rachel, everybody deemed white people who acted like they?re black as wiggers or wack. People were ignorant to understand how and mostly WHY white people would even want to embody a black person?s mind, body and soul. A lot of it has to do with our own negative self image. I can?t believe I?m saying this but Rachel reinforced black is beautiful. She made the world think. See y?all can laugh it up but at the end of the day you?re a hypocrite if you believe in transgenderism and not transracialism. The only reason why people don?t rate Rachel is because they FEEL she?s being fake. But would y?all see trans as being fake?

If someone said a transgendered person was faking it there would be a bunch of "HOW DARE"

I don't think the two are comparable. One is about gender and the other is about a shitty label created by white people to achieve supremacy. Secondly, where is it "perfectly fine" to be transgendered? The question is low-key offensive and undermines all the hard work being done by the trans community.

Are there any other 'transracials' besides Rachel or are people looking for a new thing?

Is that what would make it valid tho, the number of people who feel the same way? There are rare diseases, disorders, etc. I saw this comment

In the world where everybody can be who they want and are encouraged to do so, it should not be a problem to be transracial ! She is not the only one doing it tbh, most of us know a white person that wish to be black and black that wish to be white !
Let?s be clear if we are gonna accept transgenderism we should accept transracialism too, because it?s the same concept = feeling that you don?t belong in the body you are born with so you attend some transformations in order to look close or exactly to your wishes !
So let?s stop the hypocrisy for a minute !

I think I did what most people would do and that's shrug it off as white people being disingenuous or trying to fit in or whatever.  I think people are more up in arms because we hold our race so near and dear to our heart. They could never know our plight, our struggle, etc, but when I think about it, if ur open to one concept its completely hypocritical to be closed to the other.

But all this does is raise a bigger question: what does it truly mean to be black or a specific gender besides our genitalia or skin color?

Because outside of that everything we deem 'black' or 'woman' is a social construct

Being transracial is hardly similar to ?feeling black? ? It?s not like gender dysphoria either ? the politics of race and gender are not interchangeable in this context. Unlike many black Americans, Rachel?s family background does not carry the trauma of slavery and institutionalised racism. Unlike people who really are transracial, Rachel has not been physically torn between two cultures and denied intimate knowledge of her birth culture. Unlike people who are black and transracial adoptees, Rachel has not had to deal with both of these life-affecting experiences at the same time.

I find that a lot different than someone believing they were born to the wrong gender, especially since it's scientifically proven their brains are even wired different

I'm not brushing it off but I'm gonna need more than a white bitch doing braids and wearing an afro to make me believe she's should be been born black

To me this is just another attempt to undermine the trans girls
