You know whats funny is Rig and Char want to automatically give props to the white actors mostly because its virtually impossible for them to depict black urban life or struggle (and they both feel it diminished  the actors talent when they play them) so of course white actors come out on top by default

but the tee-tot-tot is that for black actors this is an added dimension to acting 95% of the  white actors you praise cant do  or bring across the screen realistically
so while you are saying i wish they could do more roles like this and you know imma go ahead and give it to (insert white actor here) because ive seen them do this and that
but black actors can successfully do both (depending on their range)

its only your personal issues with with that claims it doesnt matter or it cant measure up
but on the world stage it matters

What I'm saying isn't a slight toward her, it's the opposite. Some of those characters literally had no depth.

Lol Is that the main role you guys think of when it comes to Angela Basset?  I wouldn't even think of that role necessarily as the "mama" role because she was the main character.  She just happened to have kids.

Angela's most famous for playing Tina Turner, Stella who got her grove back, Waiting to Exhale, etc...

Now, I could see if we were talking about Jennifer Lewis or somebody.  But Angela Basset?!  She is a grown woman, so, yes, at some point she is going to have to play a character or 2 that has kids.  But she is far from a character actress.
