....but lets be honest the writing on Empire is HORRIBLE, and Tyler Perry is a Horrible writer as well... so its not really doing anything to help the cause in establishing credibility or a need in Hollywood for minority writers, specifically Black writers. However, both Lee Daniels and Tyler Perry are very successful, but it has nothing to do with the content or lack thereof, but plays into the narrative of where there is a demographical void in mainstream media, there lay opportunity. Opportunity to exploit self identifying imagery, and cultural reference, which history and statistics tell us, that these exploitative tactics, in most cases have proven to be very lucrative, regardless of quality of content. So what we see now is the Black Actor and its presence in mainstream media becoming more valuable and less of a liability, with or without contribution from black writers. So if there is no need... there is no opportunity.
