Beauty (think: makeup, hair, etc.)
0 (0%)
Vacation (domestic trips, overseas trips, etc)
0 (0%)
Technology (think: large screen TVs, moderately priced laptops, etc.)

None. No purchases should be monitored.

All of these purchases should be monitored.

I just want to make it clear that I have not yet fully formed my opinion on the question. I simply saw it somewhere else and found it interesting; if someone is collecting funds from the government as opposed to a paycheck from a job, some would assume that all of these funds should be going towards essentials. But the question is, what are "essentials"? It is a broad term, and I believe it to be quite subjective. What are your views?

Welfare extends way beyond food stamps. Many people use it to pay their rent, etc.

Who are we to tell people what they can purchase?
Welfare funds in the states are derived from the paychecks of many working class citizens. In other words, we pay for welfare. It would make somewhat of sense to ask these people their thoughts on the issue.

Again, not saying I disagree or agree, but I see the logic in the question itself.

On one hand
We could eliminate so much if government assistance was properly governed
half the ppl on government assistance abuse it severely.

And on the other hand
The rich Americans and corporations severly abuse the system also and take the taxpayers for even more :dead:

The middle class really gets screwed in America

If you think about it, they work hard, shop at the same stores as lower class
For all practical purposes they can't be distinguished from the lower class that they help support with no assistance
But they also can afford the luxuries that the upper class can
But the upper class who CAN afford to carry the lower class and more... get off with so many tax breaks and credits and actually GAIN wealth

It's the true nature of the American Dream exposed, hard workers get fucked, the thinkers and tricksters are the only ones who truly navigate the dream and excel
