It's a fact that African Americans, on average, carry at least 10-15 percent of European blood in their veins, due to the slave trade (and consequently, slave rape). Would you ever take any time to discover your European roots? Would you care?
Personally, I was very hurt when I learned the truth about its origins from my grandmother, and extremely angry and frustrated. It hit me so hard just knowing how much slavery has affected us, socially and even physically. I really look at everything a bit differently.

I will NEVER trace that mess back to find where it comes from. I don't give a fuck if its my great grandfather's history or not.

But that's just me. How do you feel about it? Does truly owning your heritage mean acknowledging EVERYTHING about it, or are you allowed to pick and choose what you choose to "overlook" a bit?
