It's not easy to land a Vogue cover when you're black.

I'm really impressed, because I can't tell you a thing Zendaya does.  You can literally build a brand off of looking sickening.

I know Ciara & Nicki are gagging.
I think Willow covered Vogue too

Never!

Probably a spread mess.
yh your right it was a spread

Do you know how many black women have actually covered American Vogue?

I was trying to find a list.

Why is this list so small?  That's sad.

You're missing Michelle Obama.  She had 2 covers.

And I didn't know Joan Smalls was black.

I added her just before Oprah but I jigged the list around and deleted her :dead:
Joan's dad is black Caribbean
This American Vogue though, there aren't that many black models to begin with and if there were they wouldn't be big enough to cover Vogue, now it's become a pop cult' mag :dead:

Oop.  Michelle had 3 covers.

Yeah, but that makes it worse.  There are so many black women across pop culture.   The fact that Beyonce, Rihanna & J. Hud are the only black female singers represented in the last 10 years.  And Halle Berry still the only major black actress to book the cover....

Yet a new white singer & actress is plopped on the magazine every month.  I mean, we all know this stuff.  But it's just sad every time we're reminded.

Yh I don't see how Katy Perry and Selena can snag Vogue covers but Ciara can't.
But I think it's a reflection of the times tbh
If Vogue were handing out covers to a wider range of females others than Models back in the 90's and early 2000's it would be a different story, Whitney, Sade, Iman, Grace Jones ect would all have covers.
But now..

Good point!

And don't even get me started on Katy & Selena's covers...  Or the fact Kendall was on the September issue last year then covered it again 6 months later - this year.  They have been trying it all year, TBH.  So, it's nice to see Zendaya.

And no shade to Zendaya at all.  Not trying to make this a colorism thing.  But I want to see a chocolate girl on a cover before the year ends.

But if it were a darkskined girl I bet it's going to be Lupita again though :dead:
She has two projects coming out and you know Vogue isn't really here for unknown black girls
Unless it's a shared cover :overit:
