Don't Be Cruel was the best-selling album of 1989. 

Seven times plat, Grammy Awards, huge international tour, awards show performances humping the stage to seduce Whitney.  He was kinda IT.

He really was the King of R&B for awhile.

Seven-million in the US.  I'm not talking about worldwide because both Whit and Bobby were Americans.

He had the biggest-selling album in America in 1989.  Not biggest R&B album.  Biggest album, in the 80's when people were actually selling.  But if we want to talk about international success, he was able to tour internationally for two or three years off that album.  He was still popular in the early 90's.

Bobby was not as successful as she was long-term, but to compare him to Bryson Tiller is ridiculous.
