In 2017, it is imperative that you develop business saviness because fucking around with labels will have you hurt. Being indie can be difficult, but being signed to a label clearly is as well. I'd be signing my own legal documents, have my attorneys lined tf up, learn how to produce, engineer and write my own shit. The mainstream market is overrated. I'd only be interested in distribution.

It's all costly, especially girl groups and when the talent isn't bringing in revenue via sales, touring, etc. then why continually invest? They only invest in the one who's making them money. It's political.
