In a way, you were the legend being belatedly recognized in 2015.

I don?t think I reached the heights that Steely Dan did in their day, or Tom Petty. I?m still a work in progress. I don?t think I ever had a plateau like those artists, where you just have an undeniable run for 10 years. But after the Grammys, how many young fans who didn?t know my music came to it for the first time? It?s not like I?m on classic rock radio 24 hours day. In a way, I felt like a new artist. I was as ?surprised as anyone. When I was sitting there and they were announcing ?everybody, the people I was sitting with, I told them, ?Obviously, Beyonc? is going to win -- come on.?

I didn?t then, but I did recently. I was really thankful for that conversation. I wrote her a long note after the Grammys, too. Because I saw a bit of that on the internet, where they pit two musicians against each other. The idea of being on one side versus another in music is just preposterous to me.

I'm sorry, but Beyonce deserved it for Lemonade.

It may not be some people's tastes on here, but it was universally praised by the public and critics.  5 stars in Rolling Stone.  I mean, it was a CAREER album and era.  Between "Forma'" and the film, it'll hard to recapture that kind of magic again.

She deserved it!  And she put so much time, heart and effort into it.

But I feel content knowing she will get it eventually.  Luckily for Beyonce, she's still in the prime of her career.

So, when I look at it that way, I guess there's no rush.

And as far as 25's sales are concerned, she sold 3 million in the first week before anyone even heard the album.  So, to me, the sales numbers show people bought if off the STRENGTH.

She didn't deserve it.  And Adele said it out of her own mouth!

I agree with this.  Beyonce wants the top prize!  Album Of The Year is the biggest award you can win in music.  And I like you pointed out she doesn't want it for validation.

She simply wants it, because she knows she deserves it.  And it probably fuels her fire that these white fags keep winning over her.  Imagine all the hard work and effort you put into your project as a whole to make it an industry changing event, and then fucking Beck wins.  Or Adele with a repeat of her last album.

It pisses me off the way Self Titled literally spawned everybody and their mama releasing surprise albums.  Billboard even changed the release date to Fridays after Self Titled.  There was an article talking about her album sparking conversations in the industry about better street release dates.

I think it sends a very loud message when the biggest black artist of our generation continuously loses to WHITE artists.

When she lost to Adele, they said, "Oh, she doesn't have the sales!"

Yet she outsold Beck and trumped him with her critical acclaim.

There's always an excuse why she can't win, but everyone (even her black haters) will stand up and preach on why some mediocre white artist deserves it.

She did and I know TONS of people that agree. I didn't even like 21, so I don't agree with ANY of what u said tbh.  We can agree to disagree but I don't feel that beyonce has really deserved AOTY. Beyonce fans get so caught up in everything beyonce and I think that's where they lose sight of reality. Beyonce doesn't make amazing MUSIC imo
