You can't really just walk away from a label, luvs and I'll leave it at that.

Yes you can. Especially depending on How Your Contract is written. And If you have a 1 album deal and that 1 album has been released. You don't have to resign/re-enter said contract. You can "walk away" from that label luv lol

iman

Lol you can't. especially if the money isn't recouped.

You can if you pay the money... lolz
and in Brandy case, the money was def recouped or she would have been locked in that contract lolz

RekeRig

You can if it was only a 1 album deal

She hasn't signed anything long term in YEARS. Not since Atlantic. She's a veteran, so the terms of her contract can be a bit different. she ain't no new girl

Especially with the RCA thing. She wasn't even solely "their artist", because of the chameleon contract. She doesn't have the best business sense, but she'll never be strapped down by a label lol

I remember Brandy was on the European Human Tour when she stated that her next album was going to have a "Sexy Club Vibe" .  She gets with RocNation, starts working with The-Dream, Timbaland, and Neyo. The news comes out that she had been dropped, and the management relationships ended.

Then these songs go to Epic Records artist.

And if it was a one album deal, what was she walking away from? Nothing else was lined up because When Shock Value II came out, it didn't say Featuring Brandy courtesy of.....

On Shock value 2 she wasn't on a label yet

RekeRig

And sometimes people have an "option year" in a contract. You can
choose to opt out and move on, if it's in the terms

And thank GOD she did leave. the dream didn't understand her as an artist :uhh:
Trash ass demos

FINE.

Yeah I know that, maybe the problem is that she has too much control and not a label making her release. The Epic/Koch, RCA/Chameleon is probably her way of seeing the financial benefits of being independent, while receiving the Major Label  promotion, however something is still OFF.  Perhaps its the reason neither label really made her a priority
