It's such a touchy situation.

Bullying obviously is wrong but a child still lost his life. He didn't get a chance to grow out of his wrongs and right them. But, given the extent of the bullying I could imagine how frustrating that is until someone SNAPS.

Still sucks that life was lost, though. If it were an adult it'd be different IMO because they should know better. But then again, you have full grown adults who still partake in bullying and even take pride in it - but instead of a classroom it's through a keyboard, mobile device, etc. So meh.

Ultimately, one good thing is that this sends a message.

You guys do know that "out on bond" means that he's been released pending his trial, right?

He's not really "free" just yet. He just doesn't have to wait in a cell until the trial begins.

I hope they throw him a manslaughter mess. Via temporary insanity or something.

But the fact that he brought the weapon to school with him will really hurt his case. It would be different if he blacked owt and just grabbed a knife that was randomly sitting next to him or something.

!!!!! i figured that was the case. it's really sad on both sides

i wish there was some sort of treatment facility they could send this kid to instead, because is prison
really the answer? he clearly had some sort of psychotic break, temporary or not. That has to have lasting effects
:-/ its bound to happen again the next time some tubby nigga tries him in the prison cafeteria

I don't think he deserved to die. Maybe beat to the inch of his life, yeah. :woohoo:

But now we have one kid dead and one headed to prison and will most likely serve a pretty lengthy sentence for a murder that appears to be premeditated. Other than the message that this story sends, there's really no win here for anyone.

I feel bad for both of them. Ultimately this boy is heading to jail because of an issue stemming from his sexuality - or something as simple as his mannerisms. It's crazy.

Premeditated nah the defense will prove he brought the weapon to school cause he feared for his life and had to defend himself and ?stand his ground? against his horrible bully.  I don?t think he is gonna go to jail

I just think he got really angry with this boy and just sliced and diced him a bit.

He'd really have a better chance of doing a "I kinda blacked owt. Don't even remember what happened tbh" defense mess if he hadn't brought a weapon to the school. This means he really sat and thought "Ya know wat, time 4 some murder" and put that mess in his lunchbox before heading out that morning. And waited for the bully to try it again.

But this is a harsh reality for inner city gay boys....especially attending a predominately minority high school in the hood. Gay is not OK. And if you're clocked, you're a target. It really sucks. And it's not even instances where someone is blatantly wearing rainbow belts , etc. and announcing it - your mannerisms alone can get a gorl KNOCKED upside ha head between classes.

ya rock muh world.

I used to wonder why I had to travel sooooo far to go to school. I lived in the hood of Southside Queens but was going to Bayside for a tea. I'm glad my grandmother thought ahead. I definitely would have been beat up or locked up somewhere. No shade but its just a reality when you're in an environment like that. It's part of the culture, homophobia is something that is actively promoted in hip hop, and even in the churches of the hood. So you can hardly blame a child for taking part of it.

That's what makes me sad for the boy who lost his life. He was clearly a follower. Not a leader.
