Food coloring E120 aka Carmine is made out of crushed red beetles. Often used in sweets like Skittles or anything that has a strong red color in it.

I noticed it's very common in the US and Australia. In Europe we mostly use beetroot juice for the color red, but I've seen E120 in some products before (e.g. sugar sprinkles).

At this point I don't even care anymore, cause I never had an allergic reaction from it. But still, whenever I see E120 in the ingredients list I put the product back to the shelf and choose a different brand without this food coloring.

Still fascinating how humans discovered that you can get red food dye from fckn beetles. :dead:

ya rock muh world.

Big reason I am staying away from processed foods as much as possible.
At least being more mindful.

When you really put some time aside to educate yourself it's quite disgusting how they throw damn near anything in some of these foods.

Many of these companies don't deserve our coins. The smoke and mirrors...

Yes, it's crazy what they put in our food. Being mindful is always good, though sometimes it's hard to keep your eyes open. I've heard about organic farms bribing the testers and stuff. Sometimes you're like 'who can I believe?'.

Yeah I don't think there's a 100% way to be safe in this day and age unless you're literally growing your own shit and killing your own chickens in a backyard somewhere.

You gon get GOT one way or another. But being more mindful in reduction can help. The less the better.
