This was never for Rihanna.

The song was recorded before the Chris Brown/Rihanna situation, but one can?t help but make the connection.

And to be clear, Rihanna has written/penned songs since she debut with Music of the Sun. Sure, she not overly active in the writing department but she has written songs and got involved in the creative process. Whether she's written on hits or not. She's still involved creatively.

I doubt Ciara had a significant factor in how the songs on her debut sounded
sis wasn't coming in giving an Elle Varner songwriter mess

and ... I mean ... if we REALLY wanna get technical, Ci's first mess was crafted by Missy, Jazzy, etc... a product of sorts

Rih's first mess was basically the demo that got her signed
and all the interviews say she was really vocal
