I'd say 'ANTM' is pretty successful

That's kinda suggestive imo. None of those ladies went on to do anything successful after the show. A lot of those girls ultimately left Tyra's management/modeling company after a year. Most had success years after afterwards

I kinda get what you're saying MArg but her success as a businesswoman in that venture isn't really based on whether or not those winners made it anywhere. It's based on the amount of money she pocketed in the process of making them think that coming on there WOULD get them somewhere.

I think Tyra knew that a lot of those people wouldn't really have a solid place in the modeling industry - but she made this whole atmosphere of "everyones welcome! edgy beauty! curves!" to really appeal to the masses. ANTM is pretty legendary.

She may be many things but dumb certainly isn't one of them.

I remember this episode and it always seemed to me like Tyra didn't like Yaya's intelligence and the fact that she had no problem speaking up for herself.

Honestly Tyra seems like a bit of a bitch imo. that infamous clip of tyra screaming at that girl confuses me too. I never watched the show so maybe I'm missing context but from what I could see it looks like she was mad at her for not being sad about being eliminated
She was saying bye to the girls and it seemed like tyra wanted her too be torn up about it

tthat gorl should have WON that season.  literally everyone wantd her to win.. and the way she was smiling and happy to go back to the slums of inglewood wasnt the TEA for tyra.. her life could have changed .. i see where tyra was coming from

Tyra is/was just as nasty and bitchy as Naomi, she just packaged it as being a mentor/businesswoman. Underneath the self help advice and hackneyed women empowerment is a raging narcissist who thinks she knows everything.

I've never seen her crying and felt it was genuine
more of a "who cares that you're missing both legs, focus on me" type of  cry

That's one moment I didn't quite get with Tyra. If she wants to be strong let her be strong and just leave.
