Regarding race with their children?
:ohwow:
Let?s chat.

How soon is too soon? Should it begin early? Should it be a deliberate conversation? Or a celebration everyday/instilled in them type MESS?

My moms been telling me since I was like 10 to not get shot by police when getting pulled over :plzstop:

We started having in depth conversations when I was in my teens

And when I started working she REALLY dug in because I saw how(white) people truly were

ya rock muh world.

My best friend is already teaching her son how to handle cops.

Not sitting there scaring him to death but she realizes that she's ultimately raising a Black man in a pretty shaky racial climate.

They're going to see it either way. Race is everywhere again now - no longer being swept under the rug with fake smiles and pleasantries. People are having real conversations everywhere.

Outrage is pouring out from teachers accidentally typing "nigger" onto students' worksheets. Soon as they can fully understand and absorb English sentences is probably a good time to begin dose by dose. Now's not the time to beat around the bush.

My godson is well aware and still enjoys his childhood. Still plays his video games and his guitar, etc. So it doesn't strip their childhood, it just brings awareness.

Basically what Afro said. My parents began discussing race with me like from 3-4 yrs old. It never bothered me or anything because I was taught to love everyone even though we are different. Then slowly as I got older I saw for myself and learned what?s what

Immediately
doesn?t need to be a sit down detailed thing
but it should start early

We?ve definitely regressed. My parents never spoke about race to me but t seems like such a pivotal conversation for all parents to have with their children these days..

Young

Depends on the child

When they become more aware of the world and their place in it, and would be able to understand what?s being discussed
