ralf no Hollywood studio is going to give anyone millions unless they have a solid track record at the box office.

That?s how Halle got up in those 9 figure ranks for a while.

Black women not getting the chances to even be in movies that can boost their coin is another discussion.

But you best believe Viola, Kerry and Taraji are making TOP dollar on their tv shows. I bet for many of them this is the most money they have ever made.

Will Smith didn?t become one the highest paid actors out of nowhere. He had blockbuster after blockbuster after blockbuster to negotiate with.

Hollywood isn?t a handout business.

THIS was even an issue not too long ago.  Google it.
White actresses were getting paid more money than black actresses.
Actors included.

Like, :dead:

Forget it, guys.

In her new memoir, Around the Way Girl, Henson gets candid about the gross injustices she's experienced in Hollywood as a black actress. One particular excerpt details Henson's stomach-churning salary negotiations for her work in 2008's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. (The film, also starring Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt, earned Henson an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.)

According to Henson, Blanchett and Pitt received "millions" for their roles in the film?but she didn't expect that much. She said that a salary in the "mid six figures" would've sufficed, but film producers couldn't even give her that. All they could muster up?on a $167 million budget?was a salary in the "lowest of six figures." Oh! And there was a catch: She also had to pay for her "own location fees while filming in New Orleans." (It's pretty customary that big-budget films like Benjamin Button compensate living expenses.)

"...three months of hotel expenses would be coming directly out of my pocket," Henson wrote. "Insult, meet injury."

Henson's story is despicable, but, unfortunately, not that surprising. Hollywood's gender wage gap has been a hot-button topic ever since the Sony hacks revealed Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams earned less than their male costars in 2013's American Hustle.

And before you say anything, I know Taraji did not have the star power of Brad and Cate. Duh.

The fact that people think millions of dollars are being offered to black women.
Kii.

we already know about this, as people like Gabrielle Union speak out all of the time and consistently so. I wonder why Gabby (who was also in Almost christmas) hasn't addressed Mo'nique's situation? lol because it has nothing to do with the systemic issues y'all keep pointing out:

This is about NETFLIX, specifically. And netflix has been more than willing to not only hand out deals, but accommodate any black artist that brings strong content to the table and CURRENT streaming power. Ava DuVernay has no reason to lie ....
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

On which tv show?

I bet everything. Viola and Kerry are the top paid actors on ABC and Taraji is on Fox.

And I love how you rolled right over the fact that Hollywood paychecks are based on your proven ability to slay the box office.

I actually read your posts, hun.
I did not roll over anything.

But your ability to negotiate, does not mean you'll GET THE SALARY that's comparable to your non-black counterpart, no matter how POPULAR you get. :dead: Do you know what I mean?

You?ll have to name the actor who had back to back blockbusters and still made pennies on the dollar in comparison.
