Since his interview with Power 105.1's Angie Martinez last year, T.I. has remained adamant about his self-proclaimed title of originator of trap music. Still, over the last few months, his claim has been met with his resistance -- and after Gucci Mane took the honor of anointing himself as the inventor in an Instagram post on Saturday (April 7), T.I. refuted his claims on Monday (April 9).

"Ok,so.... AGAIN for the slow ones in the back...August 19th,2003 Birth of Trap Muzik & Only fools dispute facts!!!, "T.I. captioned his post, which included a picture of his sophomore album Trap Muzik. "FOH wit that Christopher Columbus ass...Look what I discovered,even though they was already here? ass shit!!!! WITCHO GOOD CAPPIN ASS."

On Saturday, Gucci Mane posted a picture on Instagram with the post reading, "The Day I Invented Trap Music #Guwop aka #TheEvilGenius#1017Ceo."

Last April, T.I. first dished out his candid thoughts as to who he deemed as the originator of trap music. "We're just gonna make sure we give everybody the best Tip album we can give them," he said during his interview with Martinez. "I'm going for Trap Muzik on this, 'cause a lot of people don't really know that I created trap music, like I got that old."
