As far as Family Matters, the shows was centered about Jo Marie's character. So I can understand her being a bit salty. It was initially her starring vehicle.

Right, as I said it's understandable. You think you have your own show and then Steve Urkel comes , giggles a bit, says "Did I do that?  " and single-handidly snatches your entire mess from you

It's totally reasonable for someone to feel that way.

But my point was that it really has nothing to do with age - it's more about the influence/power, and someone's age can just make it even more insulting.

It's a tough business/industry - one that's able to openly discriminate based on color, age, sex, etc. with no penalty. 

Has to really hurt when these actors fight tooth and nail for YEARS , finally land something solid of their own in their 40's, only to have it snatched by some young'n in suspenders.

Too bad it's KANG only memorable role to date. Nobody knows him outside of the Steve Urkel character which hindered his career. At least Jo Marie went to be known for more roles like Sugar Mama on Proud Family and Hakeem's mother on Moesha. Looks like she had the last laugh. Jaleel suffered from being typecast like Jasmine. No one could see him outside of the Steve Urkel character and no one could see her outside of the Whitley character.

His age was probably just a bit more salt in the wound. Some of these older actors work their entire lives just to score a lil role here and there, and it has to be sting just a bit to see someone just a few years out of their teens come in and really run the show.

The same thing kinda happened when Steve Urkel hit Family Matters. Reginald and JoMarie felt that they had their own show and he came in as a guest and stole the show. You'd think they would be grateful - without Steve in the picture the show probably woulda been a graveyard somewhere a lot sooner. But they cannot help feeling some type of way.

I do think it's time for Janet to move on but I cannot imagine it being easy to get over when you feel someone has done something to affect your entire life. It's not far fetched to say that Will had her blacklisted. Yeah he's smiles and giggles in front of cameras because it's his brand but we don't know how vicious he is behind the scenes when it comes to business.

True...but we also don't know if he is in fact the persona her portrays. It works both ways. We can't give her the benefit of the doubt and not do the same for him.

I definitely get it. I think when people mentions will?s age, they mean that will didn?t necessarily have the pull he has today. I could be dead wrong and he very well may have put the good word in with his good sis Quincy jones n them, but i don?t see it at that particular time tbh.

I think she thought there was no way on Gods green earth that she?d ever get the boot, and we know how Hollywood is. Once you?re seen as Aunt Viv?, you?ll be lucky to get another significant job afterwards, and especially during the 90?s.
