I think it's hard for us to really take in that idea as Black Americans because we move as a unit here.

When I see another Black person - especially in a space where it's predominately White (like my job), it automatically feels as if I have family around. Someone I can relate to, chat with, make lil jokes that only he and I would understand, etc. Even without SAYING anything, you feel there's some sort of connection. We  here >><< . I literally feel like these are my brothers and sisters.

So I get why it's hard for us to stomach Black people "betraying" other Blacks.
It might be different in that part of Africa since they are the majority..
:usureuok:

I'm not African (only of African descent - so I'm not trying to speak for them), but in general I see that they embrace the differences among one another when it comes to their tribes , groups, etc. It's not just one big "We all Black!" thing. Regardless of whether it's West Africa or East Africa or wherever.

Some of them will look at you like you're crazy if you call them Black. And that's not because they hate themselves, but because they identify with their tribe/group - not some label slapped onto them based on their "race".
I?m saying it may have been different/might still be for blacks in that area of Africa. The comradery between blacks in America may be based off of oppression and the familiarity is comforting. Over there, blacks are the majority so I?m sure they thought of many ways to separate themselves from each other..

This was trash of them, but it's also out of context and forcing our way of seeing history on people who don't see it the same way.

Race wasn't a thing then so when people say Africans were selling their brothers they're basically trying to make it seem like black people we're savages with no loyalty, but like this says Africans we're selling prisoners and disgraced members of their family.

the problem is people try to rewrite history to make the Africans look like evil backstabbers, but in reality this is how the world worked. A perfect example is Australia's existence and the Irish slaves people love to bring up all the time. White people brought them there.

The problem with the Trans Atlantic slave trade is white people created race and made it so black people were inherently slaves. Africans didn't know they we're selling their race into slavery because to them and the rest of the world there was no such thing as black and white or race in general, just humans.

That's why when white people stepped on the Americas Native Americans didn't have problems making a Marvel team up with them to snatch the Aztecs and Incas. The biggest factory is White people we're just the most sinister group by creating the label of white people because before then a Greek or a Roman would be disgusted by the idea.
