I don't think it's an active choice. There's something that subconsciously draws you to a person and it often happens without a person having a say in the matter.

I can't sit up and say I stan for Ciara because she completely embodies what I would want out of Queen. It's deeper than that. That's what actual STANNING is. It's not as simple as  picking candy out of a vending machine like Rih does when "creating" an album

Whitney is the fck AMAZING and has everything in spades (beauty, voice, personality) but her music (while i do enjoy bits and pieces throughout) just isn't great enough for me to go all the way up. I really liked the soundtrack era but that shouldn't be her best fckn music

Aaliyah was great. She just wasn't the greatest live singer. Over time, I believe she would've continue to get better and perfect her live performances. Her music, videos, and aura speaks for themselves and you can't take that away from her.

some songs were harder to do than others, and i think she did just fine with ballads and slower mids. Over time i think she would?ve been damn good live
