Like, get the fuck REAL.

The bitch was a slut. It worked so labels started pushing other artists out there like her. Period
No shade but she was a slut in real life, not some slut-for-pay either..

What happened to all those female empowerment posts from yesterday in that Kim Kardashian thread, or does it only apply to white women?

Issa new day.

He?s right. However, I?m iffy about stuff like this because at the end of the day, it is what the consumers want. It?s like when LGBT cry for representation in a Marvel movie but the general public doesn?t care to see it. If there wasn?t a market for it, it wouldn?t exist and thats the honest truth.

BAPHOMET.

"Feminist" isnt some TITLE people go around putting on their resumes or something  :uhh: . Its not about what you've heard, its about what you can fathom and consider after clear evidence is provided. If you have to hear someone else say it and connect the dots for you, Im so sorry.

And Kim definitely inspired black feminism coming off the 90s into the early 2000s.

I get your point.

I definitely believe in supply vs demand as well, regardless of situation. Which is why I don't extremely bent out of shape about POC being included in EVERYTHING in the mainstream.....We're ultimately still in a White country. Makes sense that we'd see a lot of well...White people. :omf: The buying public is what corporations are most interested in regardless of color. If there's an opportunity they're going to take it.

But with that being said, look at Kanye's catalog. Kendrick. Consumers are definitely open to things other than gang, drugs, and sex mess.

When it comes to CONTENT (and content is the discussion here, as opposed to representation of a minority group), I think it's different.

Music is very fashionable. These artists SET trends. What's cool to say, what's cool to do. So it's definitely a different conversation than discussing underrepresentation. These are individuals with the power to literally pull an audience in whichever direction they choose.

You?re right, but I think everybody is conscious of race nowadays and enlightenment with all the racial tension going on. White people will support a Kendrick Lamar, but not to the same degree they?ll support someone like Drake for obvious reasons and I don?t expect them to support someone who is ultimately against their agenda. It?s up to blacks to want to be enlightened. White people can afford to be stupid.

I think the difference then vs now is, the consumers tell radio what they want to hear via what they choose to support online. Back in the day, songs were played on the radio and you had no choice but to like them regardless of their subject matter. But since the turn of the century, people have largely cared for mindless music and have been affected by it. It?s to the point now where there is no variety and all you hear about is sex and drugs and getting money. So a lot of black people and white people and brown people grow up with that mindset. But it really takes a toll on us.
