Right idk why they actin like what she did was so groundbreaking. She remained visible. Toured and had songs out there. Not like she left and came out of hiding like Adele.

Why didn't she perform it, why was there no video?

Say what you want about Bey but she doesn't abandon her singles even if they under perform.
If Grown Woman was a single she would have promoted it.

ppl could have easily listened to the iTunes previews and ignored the hell out of Bey
but they didn't because it is a great album, Bey has a loyal fanbase
and the general public buys her albums every time to fit in

It's not guaranteed, but her team knew what they were doing.

'Bore' had just underperformed and they were not about to risk a legitimate flop. So they pulled this surprise mess, which was actually pretty safe.

If she did indeed flop they would have an excuse, but if it paid off then there would be praise & hoopla for days.

It's safe that in that it would have been a win/win either way. If she flopped there would have been a legitimate excuse, and if it paid off the praise would be in abundance. It makes perfect sense.
