The way I found out didn't help.
I walked up to the front desk of the office, and the secretary gasped -- she was looking at her computer. And she said "Aretha died". And I said "Oh no" - I was calm, I knew it was coming.

But when I walked out, I cried. And I couldn't even cry the way I wanted to, due to the obligations I had today. She's been a fixture all my life. It's like losing a grandmother.

She was married a few times, she had her first baby at 15, her Mother abandoned her when she was 6.

Her life would make an amazing biog and they tried to get it off the ground a few times but it never went beyond discussion, Karen Clark was even tapped to play Clara Ward, her mentor.

I'm certain it'll happen now that she's passed.

There?s a lot of speculation about her first child
