People in general find the crumbling of a celeb to be entertaining. It makes them feel better about their own normal lives when they see these rich/famous/beautiful people tripping up a bit. Falling apart. Getting their dirty laundry aired out. Out and about with no makeup on looking "ugly".

That's why gossip/tabloid teas will always be big - regardless of which racial demographic the company is catering to.
