But the Carolina aren't really BUILT FORD TOUGH

So I hope it slows down

This is going to be bad

The Florida girls are really the only ones that can really take the shit

But I thought after Katrina we fucking learned.... But we have not
Thankfully most of my family and my bestie lives further inland of NC

Durham, Raleigh, Charlotte areas
on they'll be fine

They'll just get rain

The coastal girls are going to get TOSSED

A level 4 is no joke

That's, windows shattering, trees falling, flooding

GRAND ETERNAL SUPREME

And OMG I just realized how similar our families are Ken

Half of my family is in NY/NJ and the rest is in Florida

The northern girls in my family live in NYC and all over NJ

Yeah . It's not too uncommon though.
Back in the day a lot of Black people in the south moved up north for more opportunity.
And some decided to stay behind. It explains the divide.

I think they called that period the "Great Migration" or something.

I've heard my grandmother tell her story a MILLION times.
"I was just 18 years old...coming up here by myself...."

:rudone:

fsnsnfsnnfsnfsfsnn I love her :stressed:
I just.....

That's why I don't want to do a DNA test

I know it's gonna say part white  :gorlonfire:

My mom's last name is Patterson

That name is linked to slaver owners and slaves in Georgia!

And my great great great grandma is yellow as fuck

:gorlonfire: :gorlonfire: :gorlonfire:

Bitch!!

I'm just gonna lie to myself ccxxxxxxxxxxccccccccc

Don't let it make you go crazy.

It's just part of being African-American.

It makes me feel better just to remember that we are products of American history.

Yeah, my ancestors were taken from Africa and enslaved, but if none of that happened, I wouldn't be here.
It gives me solace. Because sometimes I just get so disappointed and sad with this country's history that I need to have that moment.

Even though I'd never claim some White slave master as part of my heritage, wouldn't hang their picture on any of my walls.... Ultimately, they had a part in creating me.

It comes with the territory of being AA. We're here on this soil because our ancestors were taken from theirs.

I'm not embarrassed or ashamed. My ancestors were enslaved people. Not "slaves".

This series is amazing. I watched it last week.
I was worried that it'd be "just another slave movie", but it was very multi-dimensional - took the tale from the South, to the North in New York, over to Nova Scotia, and back to Africa.

The tears were flowing during part one - especially during the scene where they were dragged to the ocean in Africa and being prepared to take the journey to American soil.

It's definitely one of those moments where I had to reach for that piece of solace in knowing that is part of my history. But overall, such an amazing series.

BET originally aired it, but I didn't even know about it. HULU had it recommended for me so I checked it out. I had to PULL myself away from it the first night because it was that good. It was 3AM and I wanted to finish it ssdsd but had to work in the morning.

Check it out if you can.

thank you

I know

I don't see my ancestors as slaves...I don't even hate the slave owners in my family

They're just a product in their time

I just don't wanna confirm the pain my family experienced only 100 years ago

Kaeli.

When I was younger I thought she was so pretty... but now Everytime I see her I?m just like :diddraispoot:

GRAND ETERNAL SUPREME

My mom is the same

And my granny

Bvcccvvvcccvvvcf

I've never had people in my life that praised light skin or certain hair types

Thank God

Even though my sister is light as fuck, it was never a thing

We're black. And family.

I'm fortunate that my dad is a Kenyan immigrant because it's given me an ultra black experience, imo

African and African American. So it's been interesting balancing it. I was just telling Bre that's why I feel pressured a lot, but that's another story

GRAND ETERNAL SUPREME

My dad doesn't have that better than mentality

Thank God

And my mom doesn't look down on Africans

But a bunch of my dad friends stay reading AAs
