The recommendation has always been to use with condoms.

HIV is a living virus, its goal like all of us to is to survive. People who are being treated have viruses with mutations sometimes and those mutations convey drug resistance. I imagine that this is exactly what happened.

Long story short. HIV is not the end of the world these days. We typically treat it like a chronic disease like diabetes these days. I have patients that are now 80+ years old healthier than diabetics and renal patients.
