I love the praise and worship mess, the choir singing....

But once that 2 hour sermon is about to perch on that pulpit I dip the fuck owt.

Especially if it's a minister who's well known for being long-winded.

There is something so beautiful and touching about the whole experience. You're right.
I loooove seeing people use their gifts for the Lord.

The singing is my favorite Parts to see in person. Every week though I try to get a GOOD sermon. Getting fed spiritually by an anointed preacher omff

They were converted once they were brought to the West

Honestly, it's been years.

My family believes in God but we have never been overly religious, perched in church every Sunday.

My whole religious foundation in Christianity is due to what I was taught growing up. Even though I don't come from a super religious family, I was always taught to respect the word of God.

However, as I have began seeing the world as an adult through my own eyes I no longer believe that God is what we were taught in church. All that fire & brimstone mess is for the birds.

For me God is love & respect. I try to live my life by that principle. I don't abide by the rules of a Bible that has been manipulated and passed down for generations as a tool to control others.

I follow my heart and work to be a good person. It's not always easy, but that's life.

At the end of the day that's what I believe God is.

But Ray, even though I may not agree with you about religion I still respect your view. Religion is very complicated, and it's damn near impossible for everyone to see it the same way. As long as it's based in love that's all that matters to me. All the judgment & forcing everyone to comply with "traditional Christian values" is where I begin to disagree.

There's definitely a certain peace in the sanctuary that you cannot find anywhere else.

But I think it could have a lot to do with the way it's set up. The scenery , etc. It's all very relaxing and soothing. Like a getaway of sorts.

The Black Church has its faults but it's one thing that keeps the community bonded. We get to come together in a setting other than someone's nightclub and really just have a good time together as one.

The unity that you feel is what I love the most. The love and warmth of the Black church. We often see the more unsavory side of it on social media but there's more to it.

There's a spirit of love that moves throughout it.

And its honestly what has helped our people for so long, and even gave us hope through the worst of times.

my life was actually very similar we believed in God, listened to Gospel sometimes but rarely went to church
and I didn?t start really getting into church until the past couple years
and that was through my OWN choice and experiences
