I know we focus a lot on our detriments as a group but do some of you ever think about how privileged you are?

Looking at the way others think, act, or experience life and being thankful you don't have to deal with certain shit?

Not in a grand "im better than you" way but just acknowledging the ways that you've been fortunate?

Been thinking about this a lot because trauma pimping is getting hella annoying and its always funny to see privilege work online-- including here.

Being a black male AND outwardly Muslim?
I wouldn't say it's a privilege, but I'm relieved I don't have to through that

I know that I'm extremely blessed to have had two loving parents who are Holy-Ghost filled and have been together for 30 years. And when I say Holy Ghost filled, I simply mean there's truly an unconditional spirit of love and understanding that they both operate in on a daily. Their connection to the most high is unreal to where sometimes I would sit back as a child in amazement. Especially with my Father who had no shame w/ getting on his knees and crying out tears to God with so much thankfulness in his heart. Watching that as a child realllly taught me so much and helped me put things into perspective.
No, They aren't perfect by ANY means-- but to have an in-home example of REAL black love, and what spiritual-groundedness is like was something I didn't realize many were never exposed to until I got older.

And I feel that it?s Very important for how you view and navigate through life

Throughout the years, I've become a lot more self analytical - and have taken into account some of my not-so-good qualities and my best qualities. This thread is focusing on the latter so, I'll talk about that.

Wherever I go, I tend to stand out among people. Like there's almost some sort of magnet inside of me that draws people in. I dunno if it's my attitude, my love for laughing and smiling...I dunno but I'm thankful for it. I consider it a special gift.

And I feel blessed to be Two Spirit. As in , I think I have a lot of qualities that can go either to the "masculine" or "feminine" side. I'm very "let's get down to business, no time for games, here for numbers only - fuck you and your feelings" but also very in touch with  my sentimentally softer side as well.

I remember us speaking briefly about twin spirited folks a few years back. I think being able to embrace both sides (when necessary) without shame is a dope feature to have.

I've been thinking about desirability as  privilege too. It's the one I notice most while interacting with other Blk gay men and in the professional world. Folks literally become more lenient for ppl who they think are attractive. I think a lot of ppl use that to their advantage or try to acquire it for these reasons (without even realizing it).
