RIAA literally certifies albums and singles on a bunch of shit that have nothing to do with sales of the album or single

QuoteClub sales and club free goods may be included towards certification. Product shipped to retail, mail order, record clubs, TV marketing and other ancillary markets are combined toward certified sales. All shipments to these accounts must be verified by the label.

What I care about is that Billboard (who gets their numbers directly from Soundscan) confirmed that "No Tears Left To Cry" did actually sell a million copies whether it was through digital downloads or some other method.

You don't know what all RIAA included in that certification nor do you know the percentages of the actual sales from the single that were included. RIAA doesn't even consult Nielsen for their "sales". Stop asking dumb questions Talisa.

:dead:
so basically

RIAA counts sales of girl scouts cookies toward certifications.

so basically sales and certs are related, disproving Mya's earlier statement

Thanks
:omf:

The disagreement Laz and I had was super basic.

I simply said RIAA would fall under the "sales" category - as in, when you have discussions about sales, or if something's sales related in the music industry, RIAA is an entity that is sure to be mentioned.

I did not go into their procedures, practices, measurements, zodiac signs, and all this other mess.

It's a sales oriented company.
It's definitely a sales oriented company

We are still compiling RIAA year-end revenue numbers for 2013, but looking back at 2012 is illustrative of the importance streaming has already gained for the music industry. A decade ago, the industry earned virtually all its revenue from physical sales. But by 2012, the industry earned nearly 60% of its revenues from digital formats, with about 15% from streaming music, which includes subscription services, on demand streaming services, and Internet and satellite radio (US Music Industry Revenues 2012, below).

So on page 45 anything from Billboard more than a year old isn't relevant

But on page 46 Talisa posts a link from RIAA citing something Billboard posted back in 2012 and it makes sense?

Now they're a "sales oriented" company?

:shannonsmissing:

LOONA.

Since they're sales oriented go and find me their sales numbers for Lemonade.

fffdkdkdk dddd

NOPE faggot

LOONA.

I'm asking you do to find something related to what you claimed RIAA does.

Billboard is sales focused. I can go find Lemonade's numbers from them

Since you say RIAA is sales why don't you just pull up a link for Lemonade's numbers then. It should be easy.

Their focus and mission is securing financial vitality for labels. You don't secure financial vitality for a business by measuring sprinkles and rainbows. You look to sales.

I thought their focus was certifying singles and albums?
