Katy Perry Claimed Her Dr. Luke Testimony Could Harm Her Career? Now It Will Be Public

Katy Perry?s deposition in Kesha?s sexual assault case against Dr. Luke will be made public, despite her request to keep it sealed. A Manhattan judge on Thursday found that Perry?s ?testimony is relevant to several important factual and legal issues (such as causation of damages). Thus there is a legitimate public interest in access.? Perry, who gave her testimony in the case last year, had requested to keep it sealed, telling the judge it could ?cause significant harm to her career and reputation.?

Kesha, who has accused Dr. Luke of drugging and raping her in 2008, has been in a legal battle with her former producer for years; he has denied the allegations and sued Kesha for defamation. In 2014, she went public with her accusations against the producer, claiming that he had been abusive during the course of their 10-year working relationship. Since then, she?s received support from others in the music industry, including Taylor Swift, who donated $250,000 toward her legal fees. Perry got involved when Dr. Luke claimed that Kesha had sent a text message to Lady Gaga saying that Dr. Luke had raped Perry; in a part of the testimony that was unsealed in August, Perry denied the assault.

Dr. Luke also requested that the names of the musical artists he?s currently working with remain sealed, a request the judge denied.

?There simply is no fair way to adjudicate this case without revealing this information. Given its importance, the public has a compelling interest in it, as does Kesha, who has an interest in the state of [his] business affairs.?

The case is set to go to trial in 2019.

Opposites Attract.

It's unconditional, these days you know....

Gilgamesh.

I wonder if she said she think Kesha is lying? Although I don't think that would be enough to "harm her career".
