Herb.

To get a glimpse into the house where they were enslaved....

And see the land they were forced to roam.

It's eerie as fuck.
Why do I feel like I'm standing in that diningroom :uhh:

This is lowkey depressing, but such a needed reminder.

I have the address now, and the house is open, I may pay a visit.

Herb.

and why is that pic on the wall making me so fucking angry :plzstop:

i cannot stop staring at this picture :uhh: :uhh:

CHOKE

This is too edgy. I'm sure I'd want to see the inside of the house and stuff because I'm sure my ancestors were kept inside. This is so sad.

RekeRig

this is crazy to see. and weird to see HQ pics of it omg

but ;nnnnbv not the pic giving

:tistheseas:

Stewie

this is the EXACT house were your ancestors were lashed?

this is crazy... the fact that your family kept track of all this stuff...

Herb.

I have to do more research into my great great great grandmother because although I know for a fact this plantation is associated with the last name.....

She gives me more of a "freed negro" in her portrait. She doesn't look like she was enslaved. But she was a product of slave master rape from what my grandmother told me. But then again, my grandmother admits to me that her knowledge of that side is fuzzy; maybe her details aren't as accurate as she thinks. If she was freed, which she appears to be, there's a greater chance that her conception may have been consensual.

My family in general worked that plantation, but now comes the question of was it one of my DIRECT ancestors working it? Or was it simply relatives. Either way, I plan on visiting the plantation.

Yes.

This is the DeBerry house....which is now on sale.

https://www.presnc.org/properties/edmund-deberry-house/

Edmund DeBerry was a congressman. My family took his name.

Herb.

And I agree Jacob, I was also surprised this morning at how meticulous their records are.
that's why I was very excited...this is all so intriguing. And to have so much at your fingertips....

it definitely reminds you that this shit was REAL. read about it, now see where it went down for YOUR kin folk.

Slave houses are perched all over the south.

In my hometown people give tours and such of the Slave houses and the Antebellum mess.
