Some of the most popular musical artists to come out of New York will be getting their very own street signs.

In its last meeting of the year on Dec. 20, the New York City Council voted 48-0 to honor three legendary artists with street signs in their home boroughs: Notorious B.I.G. (real name: Christopher Wallace), The Wu-Tang Clan and Woody Guthrie, the Gothamist reports.

The Notorious B.I.G. will be saluted with Christopher Wallace Way in Brooklyn; The Wu-Tang Clan will receive it's honor in Staten Island with the Wu-Tang Clan District; and Woody Guthrie Way will be located in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn.

"I'm happy that NYC officials are finally giving the city's indigenous 'Hip Hop' music the respect and recognition that it deserves," local culture advocate LeRoy McCarthy told the Gothamist.

"It took a long time and lots of hard-work to advance the Christopher Wallace Way & Wu-Tang Clan District street co-naming, but ya know what, Hip Hop Don't Stop."

The New York City Council reportedly voted on 68 street co-namings for a total of 164 in 2018. NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio still needs to sign off on the bills to make them official, according to the Gothamist. See more music- and cultural-themed New York street names here.
