It's funny cause my cousin just called me her nephew the other day.

She's around the same age as my mom, but my mom is her aunt so I guess that's why it's so easy to mix up.

I do specify, cause there are levels. I will say my cousin?s daughter. Cousin strictly refers to first cousins by blood. Aunts and uncles are actual aunts and uncles, sometimes I will call my fathers uncle to people just cause it is easier.

But if it ain?t grandparents, great-grandparents, siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, parents or uncles and aunts I don?t specify, I just say ?relative?.

And that the kids under her are categorically placed ass youngest great grandchildren

Ive got a REALLY big family so that's probably why too. My mom always just was like u remember your cousin so and so (hate when she does this). Breaking it down wouldve been too much.  As long as i know u blood then i dont need the specifics

Like, "Went to go see my half brother today".

I mean technically it's right . But I have half brothers and I just call them my brothers.

To me adding the half is like saying, "Yeah you're my brother but you're not reallly really realllyyyyyy my brother."

Now if it were to add context in introducing them to someone then I'd say it. But even then I'd soften it by saying "we share  the same dad" or something.

Just sounds better to me.

I know a few people that actually make that distinction and it's probably because they either don't feel that brotherly closeness or because i hate yo momma or my momma hates yo momma type shit. I feel like this is the only one where there's a justifiable reason
