Beyoncé's impact on music pales in comparison to most of her great contemporaries (Gaga, Janet, Spears, Mariah, etc). And although she's had moderate success with music, her impact is mostly cultural and forced.

She has long been the favorite of liberal, left media and easily tokenized to fill the niche that's necessary in this moment in history. Her gift remains one of black entertainer fitting that mold, and doesn't necessarily say much about her stardom or musical abilities.

I can see why urban heads could see that's she's actually bigger then she really is. Her crossover musical presence isn't massive nor impactful like Gaga and others

IDK what you consider crossover success being massive, she has more#1 singles than Gaga, more album sales, more Grammys and overall music awards, higher grossing tours, I mean...

I kinda get what he's saying tbh. Beyonce's  saving grace is her ability to perform which is why all the fags and black girls grovel at her feet but her legacy is missing sumn imo, really ICONIC music for one.   She stepped her artistry game up a bit but that lacks too TBH! That's why some people even consider solange a better artist. She seems genuinely connected and invested with what she's putting out.  I can't say i feel that from beyonce There's this........EMPTINESS or disconnect i feel from her.  She doesnt make GREAT music and that's why she hasn't received a AOTY trophy. I do still think that it's a matter of preference but i get why someone wouldfeel that beyonce doesn't measure up to the likes of Michael, Prince, Aretha, etc

IDK what everyone's definition of iconic music is but Bey has it. Shes too young to be really compared to ppl who started before she was born when she started in 97 but her music is referenced, covered, sampled etc a lot already. Her lyrics become popular phrases, and spawn dance crazes and trends. I can probably list on 2 hands the amount of ppl from her generation who have that
