I definitely think black Americans are owed reparations for slavery alone. When you really dig into the history of this country, and see how treaties were made, compromises were negotiated, and government policy contributed to the continuous disenfranchisement of blacks in America, it's really mind boggling.

I was just arguing with a white person on YT about this the other day. I expect most of them to not be in favor of it. If you're black, knowing what I know now, and you're opposed to it, I do sideye a bit and would like to know why.

Blacks in America were already supposed to get some kind of redress for the atrocities of slavery. I'm sure everyone here is familiar with "40 acres and a mule". Well, you can thank president Andrew Johnson for reversing special order 15 which would've granted that to black people, as well as a sum of $100 dollars at the time.

I don't trust America. Nothing they do is truly for the people, especially Black people. I could see them giving Blacks some shitty, paltry excuse for reparations just for the sake of "erasing racism" or absolving them of their sordid past.

From then on when a Black American mentions racism or the past, the rebuttal will be, "Well y'all got reparations".
