From what I understand, the reason why so many people believed the R. Kelly mess earlier this year is because he married a teenager and there's videographic evidence of him having sex with a minor. It's not far fetched to think that R. Kelly has harassed more women over the years considering the marriage to Aaliyah and the video.
With Michael, he's been proven not guilty of all child molestation charges against him when he was alive, so it's not as easy to believe these allegations. Also, Michael was an icon and beloved by so many demographics (male/female, black/white, etc.) so most people don't want these allegations to be true.
I haven't watched Leaving Neverland btw so my opinion may change, but as of right now, I don't believe these allegations against Michael.
