Black people can be prejudiced...but not racist, that's what I always thought

because racism is ANY set of beliefs (good OR bad) about a specific group based solely on their race.

like when people joke that asians are smarter than everybody else, thats racism by definition.

power only comes into play when you start takling about using racism as a means if oppression. a lot of people mistakenly think racism isself IS the institution of oppression, but it's not. it's merely the TOOL used within the institution. just like sexism is the tool used in the institution of the oppression of women.

anyone can be racist because it's just a set of views. you have to have power in order to OPPRESS. but the two are not one in the same.
