Melisandre Basically killing herself doesnt make any sense.

This needed an explanation as well. SO many unanswered questions

she literally says her purpose is to fight (in her own way) in the war against the dark/night king, she does exactly that, the nk is defeated and therefore she has served her purpose

if anything melisandre has one of the best arcs of the series lol

The problem with book 4 is that it came on the heels of the climactic book 3, yet removed many of the main characters.  Right after reading about The Red Wedding, The Purple Wedding, Oberyn's death, Tywin's death, and all that... book 4 doesn't feature Arya, Tyrion, Dany, or Jon.  And introduces a bunch of newbies.  

After you know where everyone ends up, it's not so bad to read book 4.

Okay...so she has served her purpose. The Night King is defeated. Why couldn't she go back to Asshai and live happily ever after? Why did she need to die? That was VERY unclear.

No they addressed it. She was supposed to been dead, the necklace was keeping her alive and younger until she served her purpose

Even so...why didn't she keep the necklace on then? What was the significance of her death? The "served her purpose" thing still makes little sense to me. I know she was old, and the necklace maintained the glamor of a youthful appearance. Supposedly. But then she was seen in scenes without the necklace as well.

So in essense she was a suicidal bitch with a singular focus. So once that purpose was fulfilled she didn't think she needed to exist anymore.

Honestly? none of the deaths made a lick of sense. There was obviously a lot more that could've been explored tbh but it was entirely too late anyway 

I guess hers was a nice death scene compared to others (Dany).

Mel's mess makes perfect sense.
She was sold as a child to the red temple. She was trained / groomed / brainwashed or whatever to believe this was her sole mission.

I wonder of mel is gonna pop up on the long night. She's lived long enough to.
