Whichever point you consider their prime (Beyonce may arguably still be in hers), who do you prefer musically?

This isn't a real question right?  :kii:

Beyonce gets great reviews at the time of release, but I don't know how well her albums age.  Lemonade didn't age well for me.

Beychella may end up being her magnum opus, and that's largely because it is performance-based.

I love her, but she doesn't have classic songs in the same way Vision of Love or We Belong Together are heartfelt classics.  Even Fantasy or All I Want for Christmas are lighthearted classics.  The only Bey song on that caliber is... Single Ladies?  Crazy in Love?

Maybe because the industry is different and Bey has chosen to be a visual album artist known for "projects" instead of singles.  Whereas Mariah's #1's alone make a great album because she has classic singles.  On top of better albums than Bey.

Now, performing is Bey all the way.
Sigh......
Not calling 'We Belong Together" a classic and dismissing "Irreplaceable". Just say you dont like the girl and cut the shit.

That's the other thing tho. Some of Bey's classic songs are mainly for women. Irreplaceable, Single Ladies, Run The World (Girls), If I Were A Boy, Diva, etc. Whereas with Mariah, her music transcends further than that. Hero alone >>>>. Beyonce tried to have her Hero with Listen and it just doesn't measure up.

Maybe its unfair to compare tho cause MC's peak was in the 90s when the quality of the music was just a different caliber. Which partly explains why The Writings On The Wall and Destiny Fulfilled is better than most of her albums.

Tbh Mariah Careys catalog is kinda better than 99% of the industry and that's not a debate and its disrespectful for you to even compare

Crazy In Love live still goes tho.

But yeah, a lot of her hits are simply female anthems. Diva, If I Were A Boy, to add more to the list.

These records can barely even compare to touch my body. Lol

Oh shit, lets not forget about Touch My Fucking Body.

I dont even now why this thread is even created. If anything, MC can be compared to Whitney and a chick like Bey should be compared to Rih. Dionne was right -- she has a little ways to go.

She's been doing it since 1999. Nothing wrong with empowering women.

There is a reason her reign is as long as it has been. She appeals to more than just one audience...
