Some people WILL succeed, and some WON'T. Lighter or darker.

However, we can't be ignorant and say colorism has NEVER been a part of the conversation or influence.

I don't think Bey having a leg up or boost in certain areas is a bad thing. It doesn't take away from her hard work at all

No one cares about Bey or Kelly.

Bey was just a catalyst to more nuanced discussion -- THAT DOES EXIST.

Sle I think you're making this turn into a Beyonce vs Kelly mess

when my gripe isn't with how far Kelly has or hasn't come as an individual.

i do think its very convenient that Mathew is suddenly on this colorism and "lemme talk about Beyonce every five minutes" crusade as he prepares to promote his new Destinys Child play

he's looking for press and publicity. so he's a nonfactor to me. i'm here for the larger conversation at hand.

hope that makes sense

The discussion has no place in music. Not when we review the history and see who our legends are.

I mean, it exists in our own fucking communities.
:dead:

Rapper videos (video chicks), etc. I mean. It's embedded in many ways.

Let's just leave Bey out of it. It won't be an effective conversation.

it def does when women like azealia are getting called darkie and tar baby

women like kash doll are hopping on social media to admit she was wrong for ignoring colorism and acting like it doesn't exist after a producer bluntly told her that she'd need to be lighter for him to work with her on some mess.

Azealia got what she deserves once you attack ppl they can cone at you how they like.

Azealia is the same bitch that was the fashion darling when she came out and had iggy dropped by interscope.

Plz come with a better example of someone who's skin tone closed the door for them.

Sheryl Lee Ralph has even spoken about how hard it was in the 80s for a darker skin woman to do MUCH of anything...

And how exiting it was to finally see BRANDY in all her glory in the 90s...
