TLM is literally based on a mythical world underwater world, race isn't even a TOPIC or even referenced in the movie, no important cultural references, ties or images are in the the movie, there's no reference to skin colour.
The ONLY important image referenced in her bright red hair, not her skin colour, not her eye colour, not even her shape or size.

Some people simply care about maintaining the the "integrity" of the character or historical figure in question.

We even had a debate about Will Smith not being Black enough to play Serena's father.

People thought he was "too light skinned" for the role. They wanted the father to be the same color of Brown as Serena's real dad.

I see what you mean. My point was that this happens all the time regardless of the race or color of character.

It is kinda annoying but I feel that the overall consensus in here was that every Black person should be happy with seeing Ariel dipped in chocolate. One person actually said that they cannot see how any Black person can't be happy about this.
