You'd think that Ariel was depicted as a ghost (or a fish like Flounder) the way that some people say she had no color, it's just a mermaid and mess. She was clearly painted as a White, red headed mess.

And it's not to say that Halle isn't talented or doesn't deserve this. But if you, for one second, think that those White Disney executives didn't already know they wanted a Black girl to play this role before casting her.....as part of a larger marketing strategy....

Meanwhile disney treats Tiana, the actual original black princess like trash and even tried to update her look to be more white passing. Hell even in the actual film her hair was permed.
