The army can open loads of doors guys
It was one of the only areas in Africa back in the 70s, 80s for work and stability and it was the launchpad of a lot my uncles careers, a lot of them became highly decorated politicians and one of them even became president back in the early 80s (after a few murders and coups) but he saw success!

And tbh it's a great avenue to take, so advertising it to the disenfranchised who otherwise may not have an opportunity to have a fruitful life isn't a bad thing.  It establishes and reinforces structure, gives u the opportunity to travel the world, and opens the door to the possibility of a REAL career. I'd much rather see a  nigga join the service rather than sit on the block wasting time or working at McDonald's

Was kicked out of his uncle's house because of a disagreement, and his sister's house.

And we ain't that cool for me to be opening my doors up. sdsddsd

He went to the Army and I honestly think it probably saved his life.
He's pretty young so I can only imagine what the alternatives would have been for him.
And there are plenty of others who share that type of story in the community.

I just can't knock and drag the military knowing stuff like that.

I saw your post about the marketing, and if you look at certain areas, they do flash stipends, housing, travel

But I have had a lot of black men tell me they didn't read the fine print

That's where a lot of my issue lies.

Their marketing rubs me the wrong way because I don't feel there's enough emphasis on how big of a commitment it is. And it's very predatory - especially for young Black males who are much closer to 18 than they are 25.
