They wanna make him the scapegoat but this won't do.  Lemme tell u with CERTAINTY, this train wasn't stopping before it was supposed to.  If the conductor would've tried to force a stop then he would've been jeopardizing everyone else on the train and alot more lawsuits would've been coming from that way.  As I said, i work closely with the company and there is no protocol for stopping for people who are illegally on the right  of way when it's  that close in proximity

That's probably there was more annoyance on his face rather than remorse when he saw what had happened. It's low-key more of an inconvenience than anything

In any case, he's fired. The decision's been made and I think it was the right one.

No sense in debating this for hours. The decision was more than reasonable given the footage I just saw, and I doubt he'll be getting his job back.

Sucky situation for all involved but I hope he finds another job.

Just an FYI and fact check:

This actually happened back in June, and the conductor was just fired last week.
Seems like they may have placed him on suspension as they investigated a bit, which isn't uncommon.

....And then made their decision. Judging by this statement they made, it doesn't look like he'll be asked to come back.

"The employee's behavior is unacceptable and in violation of CTA's policy and procedures," CTA spokesman Brian Steele said. The employee was fired last week for "failure to devote attention to duty and ensuring safe train operations," Steele said.

"We take instances like this very seriously ..." said Steele. "The actions depicted in this video do not reflect the overwhelming majority of the men and women who operate CTA trains."
