These labels are social constructs anyway so I find it odd how this topic is even controversial. Gender identity is just how someone views themselves internally and it doesn't have to correspond with the sex they were assigned at birth. Doesn't really have anything to do with sexual orientation either..totally separate. And yh you don't have to physically change to be trans.
