Seems like there are a lot of queer black men here and I'm curious to know what do you all think of her poem and perhaps your experiences dating out or toward white men? 

I see a lot of black women in their feelings about it and shaming her for making such private thoughts public. It's not my issue, of course, but I'm peeved by black women pretending like they don't live in a white girl type of world.

You cannot deny that white girls are the standard for most men, not all, of course, but most men including black men. I feel like being dismissive of that is bullshit to be quite honest and used as some type of defense mechanism. "Why give white girls so much power?" "Why make them feel even more important?" Because society does it already and she's clearly affected by it. If I'm wrong, educate me.

I don't recall a point in my life where I was ever jealous of white people or their privilege and I guess I can credit that to growing up a black/latina neighborhood and not really being around white folks until I got to college. And I don't think every black women feeling the same way is inherently dismissive or some sort of defense mechanism. We all have our personal grievances and for some of us, they aren't based in what our white peers are doing.

I was an all lives matter type girl until I actually started hanging around whites in college and felt what it was like to be OTHERED.

Nice and brave.  I don't understand how black people can live in a system of racial biased everyday and then pretend we're not affected by it. You cannot avoid the privilege white women and white men have. It is world wide privilege. They're welcomed into a lot of communities (Indian, asian, non-white Hispanic, etc)for simply being white while you're cast aside for being black immediately said to be a threat based off of what they heard or saw on TV. How is Aoki wrong again? Give me a break.

Funny, because these same women will complain about how black men are quick to date white women but when you bring up the color of the women he chooses to date, It's, "I don't see them." Sure Jan.

Of course, if you're grew up around black people all of your life you will feel differently. However, it is insulting to say Aoki doesn't have a point when she has grown up in white spaces and so have other black kids. And lets not act like, we don't code switch under white supremacy every day. We have definitely adopted their culture and living up to their standards. Natural hair just started to get hot. Before that, it was bone straight for most black girls.
