iTUNES TAKES PREORDERS OUT OF THE CHART

Beginning today, preorders are no longer counted toward chart position on the iTunes charts as pre orders will occupy their own row on the iTunes Store home page.
When the preorders are redeemed, usually during the first week of release, those redemptions will now be counted along with new sales to determine the rankings.
Previously, when an album was preordered, it would be ranked along with the currently available titles based on the number of albums preordered. Then, upon release, only the new sales would contribute to chart position. This resulted in several occasions where an album with a strong preorder would be outranked by another new release, even if that new release would finish the week with a much lower number. The new way of doing things gives new releases precedence over ones with a long preorder period, prioritizing albums that are either available now or will be soon over ones that are weeks or months away. There is a new "Pre-Orders" slider about one-third of the way down the iTunes homepage with the currently available preorders. These will be ranked in order of best sellers and refreshed several times daily to reflect the most up to date status.

I never did like them counting pre orders on the charts but Bish why they had to do it now when Mon is arriving.

All that's doing to do is put more attention on albums actually on sale

Pre order albums take up unnecessary room

Why did they all of sudden do it when Adele bumped down to #3. G-Eazy was slaying her. Now they don't count pre-sales in the first week chart positions. This is bullshit.

Has nothing to do with billboard

Why wouldn't iTunes count there on pre orders tho. Makes no sense.

SUPREME

They're just removing them from visible charts. They waste space.

They'll still have their own space though

Just read it. :hmph:

They have a pre order section but it's not like charting. It's just some random pre orders.

Itunes itself isn't a chart, just another place to buy shit where sales and streams count like spotify and Pandora and Google music

But when you buy an album off iTunes, they count it on iTunes Charts. ITunes don't count streaming but Apple Music does. The pre orders made people realize the albums was coming out. It's fair for them to have a private section but they should still do a chart. I had to scroll through a lot to find Mon, Kellz and Chris mess. The section is so random like a clearance mess.
