Backstory: One of my buddies is scared of putting his music out there. Anyway, he finally put out a mixtape on SoundCloud a few months ago but he's done little to no promotion  :uhh: I think he has a nice voice and an ear for harmony but before I push him to do more promo, what do you guys think of his voice/music?

The first two songs are my favorite from the mixtape

Bentley!

I think this is great for a mixtape!
He has some nice sounds, and his melodies and backing harmonies are really tight, I don't hear much empty space.

And it's a great thing that you're pushing him as a friend. Keep putting him out there and driving him to advance!

Bentley!

I really like the end of Waiting On You. That's his strong point

I can honestly say that I turned off after 35 seconds of the first song. The voice is just not there.

I agree, I think his leads can be stronger but he makes it up with the harmonies.

hey bew.  just take in what the gorls are saying and pass it along to your friend.

he may wanna know that some of the gorls are pressing stop 30 seconds in.

im bout to listen

Bentley!

I'd have to know his recording location too to figure out his vocal quality. He has a voice.

It doesn't sound like he was in a session to project and GIVE the best vocal. But it's a mixtape too.

Like on Waiting On You, a vocal producer would've gotten them leads together. He did damn good on them backs.

Don't like the effects on the leads at the end over the harmonies.

Ron advise him to tune up WOY and make it a lead singler tea if he decides to do an EP mess owt.

Listened to the first song....I am going to be completely honest.
He has a nice tone. His voice sounds pretty smooth...
he just sounds a little bored. he's not really attacking the song with swag ...which is definitely needed on a track like this. But that's not uncommon with someone who's new to recording.

Also, I'm assuming he's gay from the lisp. if he's gonna be singing to or about women he may wanna control that a bit more. but that'll come from developing his swag.

the writing is pretty cool though and arrangement. once he hones in on how to really command and control a song and set the atmosphere he'll be fine.

Afro if you don't get back into the studio! Gorl!

@Bentley, yea I agree, he needs a real producer. He said he recorded and mixed everything in his apt lol

@Afro, thanks! Yea I'm going to let him know all the feedback.
I noticed that he never used any gender specific pronouns in any of the songs so I doubt he is singing to women...
